January 1 marked the start of legal sales of recreational marijuana to adults in many Montana counties, including Missoula. At City Club Missoula January 24 (11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m., via Zoom) attendees will hear from a panel of presenters with in-depth knowledge of the statutes and rules regarding regulation and implementation of the voter-approved law. Learn how the early days of implementation are progressing, and the implications of legalized recreational cannabis for businesses, customers, and state revenues. Confirmed panelists (panel currently in formation) include Jennie Dixon, Missoula County land-use planner who led the county efforts to develop regulations for cannabis use; Courtney Cosgrove, senior cannabis attorney of the Montana Department of Revenue’s Cannabis Control Division; Kate Cholewa, government affairs specialist for the Montana Cannabis Industry Association; Faith Price, Community Preventions Coordinator with All Nations Health Center; and Katrina Farnum, operator of Garden Mother dispensary. KPAX reporter/anchor Jill Valley will moderate the panel.
